The Federal Transit Administration issued a statement on Oct. 30 that the Downtown Kansas City Streetcar Project’s various alternatives have no significant potential environmental consequences. This approval is the capstone to a federal planning process that was coordinated with the city of Kansas City, Mo., Jackson County, the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority and MARC.

Review FTA Finding of No Significant Impact

The Jackson County court administrator’s office has mailed ballots for the streetcar initiative to registered voters in the Downtown Streetcar Transportation Development District, which must be returned by Dec. 11. The ballots seek approval for property and sales tax increases within the district to help pay the local cost of the streetcar system.
